So, in memory of Pebbles and in honor of Bella, we (Iris and I) are organizing the Birch Bay Dog Walk. Anyone who loves dogs has a special place in their hearts for old or lost or lonely or abandoned dogs. That sort of encompasses Old Dog Haven, for old dogs-like the older members of our society-are often forgotten about and not wanted. We had already adopted two homeless dogs (since the 3 chihuahuas that needed homes) when we found Bella. The main reason for adopting a homeless dog was, of course, to help the dog, it seems like such a responsibility and requires thought. She looked so much like Pebbles though, that cinched the deal. Once you have adopted a dog like Bella, you realize that you are the one who is saved and all the care you give, you get back a hundred fold. She brings so much love with her, she is a needed addition to the family. She fits in perfectly, though she is trying to boss all the other dogs around (even Big Dog - Lady who is 90 pounds).
So the Birch Bay Dog Walk in September will be great fun in honor of old dogs everywhere who have given so much to humanity. It is a fundraiser for Old Dog Haven who take such good care of as many old, forgotten dogs as they can.
